A Special Easter Treat

Posted in Personal, Photography by Bridget Casas on April 12, 2009

I guess I am not very “pc” saying Easter, but that is what I know. This is one of Willie’s favorite candies and I wouldn’t let him have any until I knew I got the photograph I wanted. This is a pretty little candy bowl that was my mother’s. It almost looks like a stock photography image! It is a beautiful day today. Willie and I went to breakfast and then did a few errands.  We are staying home the rest of the day to  watch the Dodger game and barbque a nice steak!

The colorful sweetness of Spring…

I saw this other weblog this morning that had some images on it with a similar look to some of mine. Check it out if you get a chance. She does close-ups with textures and movement.  I am trying to interact with some other photographers who show their photos on weblogs. I have links at the side to a few I enjoy looking at from time to time because they are different from what I do. I hope I hear from my nephew Greg tomorrow. He asked me for his grandma’s pot roast recipe to fix for Easter dinner for his wife. Isn’t that sweet?

Look at What the Light is Doing!

Posted in Photography by Bridget Casas on April 5, 2009

I love to photograph light in different situations. Two of my favorites are shadows and reflections. Well, this photo was taken in bright sunlight on a white board, shooting the reflection of a round piece of orange crystal “candy.” I guess it could be interpreted as many other things if you didn’t know! I thought it was interesting, though rather uneventful or spectacular. I guess one of these days I need to decide what I want to photograph. I am all over the board!

What is this strange formation…?

Anyway, it is a rather odd photograph. Maybe I should have chosen something else! Once I get this far I don’t make any changes – I am committed. I believe there have been a few times I should not have been so committed! It is an absolutely gorgeous day today. I hope the rest of the week is just as nice. But now I see there may be rain on Tuesday! Where does this come from? My spring break is over and it is back to school this week. Did I accomplish much? I don’t think so. Have a good week.

Getting My Ducks in a Row

Posted in Huntington Beach, Personal, Photography by Bridget Casas on April 4, 2009

I was at Calumet the other day in Santa Ana and I purchased a large Portacube (24″ x 24″).  It  folds up for ease in carrying and storage. I want it for product shots and some of my own personal photos. I tried it this morning with these crystal ducks my mother gave me a long time ago. We were on one of our fun trips to Las Vegas and she bought them in a shop at Caeser’s Palace. They had a purple one I wanted her to get, but she chose not to buy it. If you ever see one, let me know!  The cube will work out great – much better than the box Willie and I made! I know I will get a lot of use out of it.

Beautiful ducks with the cutest little tails…

It is a beautiful Saturday here in Southern California! The sun is out and the sky is a beautiful color blue. We had a great dinner last night with Larry and Shelley. However, we did have a last minute change of venue. The Italian place we were going to is not there anymore – a sign of the times. We went to another restaurant and had a good time. Even there, at 7:00 on a Friday evening, we were the only one’s in the restaurant, all the other customers were in the bar!

My Little Yellow Ducky

Posted in Personal, Photography by Bridget Casas on February 26, 2009

It was a sunshiny morning so I wanted to take advantage of it and take a pretty shot of my little yellow ducky. Isn’t he cute? He is made from beautiful Lalique crystal in France. This was given to me by the same dear friend who gave me my beautiful Lalique butterfly. I miss my friend. My ducky has cute little web feet, feathers on his back and wings with a very strong bill and sharp eyes.

How I love my little yellow duck…

He doesn’t go swimming too much. He is just to look at and enjoy. Class was good last night. The instructor is so good and really wants us to learn a lot. It is a fun class and I enjoy going. Learning CSS code is like learning another language! He is willing to help me with my website and the one I started in Flash class last semester for Frank Monise Motors. I still have a few photos to take for my Saturday morning class. Maybe this afternoon we can go to the park. Until tomorrow…!

Crystal Candy

Posted in Personal, Photography by Bridget Casas on February 24, 2009

I decided to shoot a photo with some beautiful pieces of crystal shaped like candy. My mother gave these to me years ago along with a beautiful Waterford bowl. There are other colors of candies such as red, purple, orange and yellow, but these are my favorites. Larry has given me a few also. I did a close-up and you can even see some air bubbles in them.  I used my +1 close-up filter,  1/50 at f25  so it would all be in focus. I hope it works for you. I am not crazy about the white at the top.

Beautiful pieces of crystal…

I shot this on a white mat board outside. It was not as sunny as I would have liked. It is rather overcast and cool right now. My photography class is tonight. I wonder what we will learn? We have a group project we are working on and we will meet tonight. I have taken a few photos for the project and I am sure the others have also. I have some photos to take for my Saturday class too.  Anyway, I guess that is enough for now!

Lalique Butterfly

Posted in Personal, Photography by Bridget Casas on February 11, 2009

Isn’t this image beautiful? We had a great sunny day yesterday and Willie was outside taking some photographs. It was good motivation for me and got me out shooting.  This Lalique butterfly was given to me by a very dear and special friend a few years ago. It is gorgeous and very special to me. I love the bright sun light shining through. It was fun taking this photograph and I like the results. It is different from what I usually do, but I am trying to go “outside the box” as the saying goes. Thank you Willie for the inspiration – I love you.

Lalique crystal from Alsace, France…

I was not too happy last night. I went to class and there was a sign on the door that it was cancelled. I always feel very cheated when that happens. As students, we pay a lot of money for our classes and we do not get a make-up class or any money back when a class is cancelled. I take these classes to learn, not for the credits. I got my degree a long time ago. I guess I have vented enough. I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way. What will I photograph next?
