Tried to Take a Photo of Six Toddlers!

I guess I am a glutton for punishment! Have you ever tried to take a photo of six toddlers at one time? They all run off in six different directions for six different reasons. This was the most challenging moment. The parents really tried to get them all together, but it just would not work! At least all six are in this image, along with one mother. I believe it is impossible for six toddlers to sit in a row, look up at me, smile, and let me take their photo!

A Very Odd Tree (or is it a bush)?

I took this photo of this very strange tree at Marina Vista Park in Long Beach. I am very curious about how it grew like this. It is very much alive and has a lot of leaves from two or three areas. I have no idea what it is and I am getting tired of writing those words, as I am sure you are tired of reading them! I would appreciate some help. There were several trees shaped like this, but this was the most unusual one. Has a flower on it – can you see it?

Aren’t these strange looking pods? I took this photo at the park and I don’t think I have ever seen these before. Have you? They look kind of scary to me! Does anyone out there have any idea what these are? I had a good time walking around the park taking photos. It is always fun to see new things!

Game of Cricket in Long Beach?

I was in Long Beach this afternoon at Marina Pacific Park to take photographs at a baby shower. Next to us, at the other end of the park, was a cricket game going on. I have never seen this before except on TV. I was not expecting it today. I did not know cricket was played at this park. It was a good day and we (Willie and I) took a lot of photographs.

A Palm Tree Grows in Long Beach

Posted in Photography by Bridget Casas on June 26, 2009

While on Twitter this morning, I got some help with my Lensbaby problems. The main thing is I need to adjust my diopter on my camera so I can see better through my viewfinder. Well, I had a lot of very exciting things to do today, like buy dog food, go to the store, to Target, to the bank, etc. Well, in the middle of all of this, Willie slammed his finger in the car door. We eventually ended up at the emergency because it would not stop bleeding. It looked really bad. I grabbed my camera as we were leaving, and I had the Lensbaby on. So this is it for today!

A palm tree at the VA Medical Center in Long Beach…

So our afternoon did not go as planned! At least there is a part of this image that is in focus! That is a big improvement from some of my previous Lensbaby shots. I like the colors and the way it turned out. I was ready to give up yesterday but I think I will persue this type of photography. There are a lot of people on Twitter who are willing to help me and give me advice. How can I refuse and give up? Hope you have a really good week-end and stay out of trouble! By the way, Willie did break  his finger and he has a splint on it. He will probably lose his fingernail too. Not so good!

HMS Queen Mary

Posted in Photography by Bridget Casas on November 18, 2008

I was in Long Beach with Willie last night and thought I would try shooting the Queen Mary again.  I did not have much luck last month so I tried again. I like this one. There is a lot of light reflecting in the sky from the Los Angeles Harbor against a little lingering smoke. Larry and I went there many years ago on a tour and when I first started in real estate, the company had a Christmas party there. It is very beautiful on board.

Queen Mary looking beautiful at night…

We see it every once in a while in a movie or TV show. It has been used a lot for filming. There are several restaurants on the ship and a lot of different kinds of tours. It is pretty to see whenever we are in that area. The Spruce Goose used to be next to it (to the left of this photo), but it has been gone for many years. We never did go to see that. This is still a very beautiful ship and fun to look at and explore.

Long Beach at Night

Posted in Photography by Bridget Casas on October 13, 2008

I was in Long Beach last night with Willie.  He goes a few nights a month for business.  Since it was breezy and clear, I thought it would be a good night to take some photographs.  I particularly liked this one with all the lights and the reflections on the water. It was a beautiful evening, though chilly. This area is south of Ocean Blvd. and across from the Queen Mary (which is behind me and to my right).

There are many things to take photographs of in Long Beach. It is quite a diverse community.  There are many things here in Huntington Beach also.  I would like to go down to Newport Beach and Balboa to take some photographs. It has been a long time since I’ve been down there. We are going to the Getty Museum this week, on Wednesday.  So I hope to return with some good photographs for you.  Until tomorrow…

Beautiful Summer Night!

Posted in Photography by Bridget Casas on September 9, 2008
I have enjoyed taking photos of neon signs in the past. Willie had to go to Long Beach last night so I thought I would go with him and take some photographs. It was such a nice evening and there were many people walking around and enjoying one of the last evenings of summer. We went over by the Queen Mary and walked around all over.  I had seen this neon before and wanted to photograph it.  I do know that taking a photo of someone else’s artwork is not good photography, so I am just documenting the artwork.  It was for fun and I really like it.  I hope you think it is a fun photo too.

The math did not go too well yesterday.  I was having trouble with the online program so I need to figure out how to fix it.  I got some of it done but I got frustrated because it was not working like it is supposed to.  It is frustrating because I am at their mercy – I have no control.  Anyway, I think I am starting to ramble and I do not want to do that.
